Pots in Shops – Cooroy’s Longest Exhibition
Smoke on the Water conference committee invites Expressions of Interest to participate in ‘Pots in Shops’ which is open to all conference delegates and current Ceramic Centre for Excellence members.
The application template can be downloaded here. EOI Pots in Shops Template
The exhibition runs concurrently with the conference 28th June to 1st July and is an opportunity to showcase your work in the window of the local businesses. It is designed so that delegates and public can tour the Cooroy Township to view and purchase a wide range of ceramics in mini shop-front exhibitions.
The exhibition pieces will be selected by the artistic direction team of Smoke on the Water, but the work does not need to be woodfired (but preference given to woodfired work). Their decision is final.
Selected artists and business owners will be assigned on best match and contact details exchanged. All work displayed to be available for sale. Buyers will contact the artist directly via artist’s mobile phone to negotiate the sale, pick up times and access to the business shop.
Insurance for the work is the artist’s responsibility. Most business shop fronts are limited in space and require only a few pots e.g. (4-6) 1 plinth size.
TO APPLY FILL IN THE EOI APPLICATION TEMPLATE AND EMAIL IT TO email@example.com.
If you are selected this application sheet will be displayed with your work, so you need to PRINT and LAMINATE it. You can also display your business cards. You may need to provide plinth or small table.
On acceptance, the artist will be advised of the business contact details.
Selected artists are responsible for negotiating with the business:
- contact the business owner as soon as possible to view and negotiate the final location of work
- confirm set up date is Wednesday 28th 9-12am or otherwise negotiated with the business owner.
- arrange display materials e.g. A4 plastic stand, plinth or paper to place work upon
- confirm pick up day/time either Saturday 1st or Sunday 2nd July or agreed timeslot
- confirm the business hours and access times
EOI’s will not be accepted without attaching a current insurance certificate or sign a waiver taking responsibility for damage to work, as Business owners have NO liability (e.g. stolen, breakage etc.) for the work.
